Defender Samuel Umtiti could be handed his France debut against Cameroon, the country of his birth, in their friendly fixture on Monday.

He has replaced Jeremy Mathieu in manager Didier Deschamps' squad after a calf injury ended the Barcelona defender's hopes of reaching Euro 2016.

Lyon's uncapped Umtiti, 22, was called up from Deschamps' standby list when Mathieu was withdrawn, and could benefit following a thigh injury to fellow defender Raphael Varane. The tournament hosts' final squad is to be announced on Tuesday.

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho could yet be included in that squad after European football's governing body UEFA chose not to extend his suspension following a positive drugs test.
Monday's fixture also represents a chance for Yohan Cabaye, who is expected to play, to prove he deserves a place in Deschamps' midfield.

The Crystal Palace player is vying for selection with N'Golo Kante and Lassana Diarra alongside Paul Pogba and Blaise Matuidi, and said in quotes published by FourFourTwo: ``I have to show that I am still there.

``We have 23 players fighting for their place who all have the same objective. We will need every player.
``Every time I'm out there on the pitch I give everything for the team and for my team-mates. The fact that coaches keep on calling me up for the national team shows they are satisfied with me or I would not have been called up.
``There is a lot of competition for places, which is a good thing for the team. It is healthy and keeps everyone on their toes
``You can never take anything for granted in life or in football. You always have to keep pushing forward.''
Sevilla's Adil Rami is another defender called up by Deschamps following France's injuries there, but though he has greater experience than Umtiti, Laurent Koscielny and Eliaquim Mangala are expected to be the manager's first-choice central defence.
