Borussia Dortmund
This was the most successful Bundesliga season for Borussia Dortmund in their history, and yet they still ended up behind Bayern Munich.
They are the best attacking side in the league with fantastic 80 goals scored in 34 matches, and with 77 points collected they would have been crowned as Bundesliga champions in over forty of the last fifty Bundesliga seasons. However, Bayern Munich are still a few classes above any other German team, and they will hardly get dethroned in the upcoming seasons.
Borussia Dortmund unexpectedly lost with 1-0 against relegation-threatened team of Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend, although they dominated in that match.
When it comes to playing in Dortmund, Borussia Dortmund are invincible this season. They are the best home side in the Bundesliga, winning 14 and drawing just twice in their 16 home matches this season. They will be extra motivated to win against Cologne and finish this season as the only unbeaten home team in the league.
Interestingly, Borussia Dortmund are without a victory against Cologne in three straight matches. Last season Cologne won at home and drew in Dortmund, and this season their first match in December ended in 2-1 home victory for Cologne.
Cologne
Cologne also had a fairly successful season, finishing in the golden middle of the table. They were especially dangerous at away grounds where they collected lots of points.
Cologne are currently unbeaten in five straight away games, recording three draws and two victories. They are finishing this season as the seventh best away team in the Bundesliga.
Cologne are on a positive series of four consecutive unbeaten matches. They won against Mainz and SV Darmstadt 98, and their last two games against Augsburg and Werder Bremen both ended in goalless draws.
