Tashkent: Coach Andrey Miklyaev is looking for his Lokomotiv side to “write a new entry into club history” by qualifying for the AFC Champions League quarter-final for the first time with a victory over 2014 ACL runners-up Al Hilal in Tuesday’s Round of 16 second-leg tie.

The Uzbek League side had already achieved a significant milestone after qualifying for the knockout stage for the first time earlier this month after they topped Group A ahead of UAE club Al Nasr.

And, after holding Al Hilal to a goalless stalemate in Riyadh a week ago, Miklyaev believes his team is ready to add another chapter in their continental record book.

“We will try to qualify to the quarter-final; we want it very much. We are aiming to write a new entry into our club’s history,” said the 48-year-old, pictured during the post-match press conference following the first-leg stalemate in Saudi Arabia.

“The draw in Riyadh doesn’t mean anything. Both sides have an equal chance in tomorrow’s match with tactics effected if someone scores.

“We have to be very careful as we can’t afford to make a mistake. It could very well go all the way to a penalty shootout tomorrow, but we’re ready for that.”

Al Hilal, meanwhile, have a new coach in charge after last week’s first leg with Abdullatif Al Hussaini having replaced former Greece international Giorgios Donis.
