It’s still early days in the new season of the Austrian Erste Liga, but bottom club Wacker Innsbruck find themselves with just one point to their names after their first three league matches.

They now host FC Liefering in Tuesday night’s action at their Tivoli Stadion as they look to pull away from the bottom of the division and earn their first win of the season.

That said, the early signs are not good for Wacker Innsbruck which finished bottom of the Bundesliga at the end of last season, and they once again find themselves in unwanted but familiar territory in the Erste Liga.

Defeats against Mattersburg 0-2 away and 1-2 at home to Austria Lustenau along with a point in a 0-0 draw at Kapfenberg has been scant reward so far, and they face a team who will be in confident mood no doubt going into tonight’s encounter.

Onto the visitors FC Liefering then and they remain unbeaten albeit in this early stage having won two of their first three matches with wins over Hartberg 3-0 away and a 2-0 home win over Austria Lustenau.

The other result was a 1-1 draw with FAC Team fur Wien, but last season’s third placed team possess some dangerous players up front.

Brazilian Felipe Pires and midfielder Dovedan look to be their most likely anytime goalscorers, and it’s worth noting that Liefering scored the most number of away goals in the Erste Liga last term, even outscoring promoted Rheindorf Altach who finished up with 36 goals on their travels.
