Arsenal have an outside chance of finishing second, which they have not done since 2004-05 and so it is possible that a campaign marked by frustration and volatility could end on something of a positive. It would be sweet for them if they could pip Tottenham and finish above them as they always do but thoughts have already turned to next season. The mood and the attendance at the Emirates will be interesting. Villa just want it all to stop. David Hytner
