Watford have made a solid if unspectacular start to their preparations for this coming Premier League season. A much-weakened outfit headed to non-league side Woking to play out a 1-1 draw in their first warm-up match and after that, a stronger starting XI helped the Hornets grind out a 2-0 away win over League Two Stevenage last Thursday night.
Now in Germany for a pre-season training camp, the Hornets play Union Berlin at Stadion an der Alten Forsterei in their only overseas pre-season fixture this summer and they're unsurprisingly the favourites to win the game against a second-tier German outfit, despite not having the home advantage.
This will be Union Berlin's biggest pre-season test prior to their 2.Bundesliga campaign along with a match against Utrecht coming up next week. Eiserne have picked up two wins from three games thus far this summer over Hansa Rostock and Victoria Seelow, but these were much-needed victories following an embarrassing 4-0 loss away to Atglienicke in their first game.
