Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki celebrated the promotion of his hometown club Wurzburger Kickers to Bundesliga II on Tuesday.
Wurzburg became only the second ever club since the introduction of Bundesliga III (after RB Leipzig) to win promotion to the second division immediately after being promoted to III.
The club were able to take a 4-1 aggregate win from their two-legged promotion/relegation playoff with second tier club MSV Duisburg, and qualified for Bundesliga II for only the second time in the club's history after the 1977-78 season.
