Now he has been stunned by how many are paying to SAVE them.

Wing king Aluko contributed personally when Gers had to fork out compensation to land him.

It’s a move which had reaped a rich reward for the Nigerian star before this week’s nightmare plunge into administration.

The Ibrox crisis has left Aluko and his shocked team-mates fearing for their future.

Former Aberdeen ace Aluko says the players have been humbled by the Gers support’s response.

He said: “It is so good everyone has pulled together in the fashion they have.

“It shows there is a real spirit about the place which is very special indeed.

“Folk we’ve never met before respect we are all human beings and they understand we’ve all got livelihoods with bills to pay and all the rest.

“The backing we’ve had has been outstanding and I’ve been blown away by it. People have been genuinely concerned for everyone at the club and it has been so heartening.”

Today’s clash with Kilmarnock is already a 50,000 sellout.

Boss Ally McCoist predicted a defiant response from fans in the face of awful adversity.

Aluko, who bagged a goal in last week’s 4-1 win at Dunfermline, knows the four-in-a-row dream is gone. The ten-point penalty for entering administration has left them 14 points adrift of Celtic.

Aluko insists they can’t afford to let the fans down when Killie visit today.

The winger, 23 tomorrow, added: “What the supporters have done has been excellent.

“We want to give them a win for the way they’ve stood by us and by Rangers.

“On the face of it, we’ve got a job to do and we just play for 90 minutes but everyone has shown real concern for us all. They really care.

“Seeing so many supporters going to buy tickets for the game does so much for us as a squad. It just shows how together the whole club is.

“It is really touching so many people have got behind us.

“The staff and players have been coming in and trying to do their bit and it’s not a good situation for the club to be in at all at the moment.

“Everyone is doing their own bit to try to help.

“What we have to do as players is try to put a smile on people’s faces for 90 minutes.”
