Augsburg were brilliant in 2014–15 season as they surprised everyone by finishing fifth in the league and booked their first ever ticket to the Europa League. They even reached to the round of 16 of the Europa League before bowing out to Liverpool. However they struggled to cope with the busy schedule of fixtures in the domestic league and finished 12th in the 2015/16 standing. With no burden of European football this term, Dirk Schuster and his men will be looking to emulate the feat of 2014/15 season.
