Basel did a decent game against Monaco (0-1) in their last game, but their finishing was not good enough in order to challenge them. Basel did pose a very strong team with both of their recent signings Mohamed Elyounoussi (from Molde) and Seydou Doumbia (on loan from Roma) in their starting lineup. However, it was not a surprise that Monaco won the game when looking at the possession of the ball. Basel was only aiming for counter attacks or exploit personal mistakes that were made from Monaco. Although they did not have much of the ball, Basel got invited into the game from the 70th minute, due to lack of concentration from Monaco who changed ten players at halftime. The problem was only the lack of finishing when the chances occurred which made a loss only fair in the end.

Wolfsburg comes from a tough loss against Celtic (2-1) in their last friendly three days ago. It was only their second game in this preseason after they beat PSV on a penalty shootout after getting 1-1 in regular time. The match reports say that Wolfsburg played their best half during the first 45 minutes and especially offensively. They took the lead after 16 minutes, but it suddenly was equal five minutes later.
