You know the types.<br /><br />But how did they vote in the Brexit referendum I don’t hear you cry? Well, small town coziness in England screams ignorant abhorrent racists and so it proved with every two to one person from that area voting to leave a European Union that has funded the area for many years when the Tories would be happy to neglect it. With the area of Sandwell I don’t believe it was a malicious vote because they’re terrified of some Poles stealing a minimum wage job or two, I just think it’s because they’re small town stupid, and we’re unlikely to be able to fix that any time soon so I hope 70% of them are on food rations as soon as Article 50 is invoked.<br />

Michy Batshuayi: Last season’s Chelsea looked bereft up front, with Diego Costa channelling his inborn rage towards winding up the opposition rather than actually scoring goals. Batshuayi however, might well be the long-term answer to Drogba’s departure, a powerful and selfless player with the attributes to make him an effective lone striker.<br />

Tottenham Hotspur are back in action on Saturday when they host Crystal Palace in their home opener. It’s a match that has a feel of a goodbye tour -- it’s the final season at White Hart Lane, and there’s remarkably a feeling of melancholy around all of Spurs’ home matches this season.<br />

Or maybe it’s just me? This is a season of lasts: the last time we’ll play these teams on the (narrow) White Hart Lane pitch. The stadium is already partially demolished. Champions League matches are being played at Wembley Stadium this year. It’s exciting, but also a little sad.<br />

The last time Tottenham hosted Crystal Palace was in the FA Cup, and the Fightin’ Pardews came away with a 1-0 win on the back of a Martin Kelly goal. Palace eventually got to the FA Cup final before falling to Manchester United. Spurs, however, had very little trouble against Pardew’s Palace team last season in the league.<br />

Mike Phelan saw his pre-match press conference interrupted by a firm alarm yesterday but, thanks to last weekend's win over Leicester City, there was no other cause for immediate panic ahead of tomorrow's trip to Swansea City.<br />
<br />
Although Hull City remain a club desperately ill-equipped for the Premier League, with neither a permanent manager nor a signing of note this summer, at least the opening day demonstrated there is a team unwilling to be dragged into the mire.<br />
<br />
They still need help before the transfer window closes – and lots of it – but the sharp focus of Phelan and his players is containing a full-blown crisis. The professionalism of this group is keeping City afloat against a backdrop of uncertainty from the boardroom down and for that they deserve no end of credit.<br />
<br />
To all intents and purposes, the pressure will be off the Tigers when they arrive in South Wales. They remain the Premier League's underdogs and already boast a total that most supporters would have gladly accepted at the international break next month. Reproduce the performance of last week and there is no reason why three points cannot become four.<br />

Rangers are still on course to sign Preston striker Joe Garner in a B#1.5million deal, but it is unlikely to be completed before Saturday's Ladbrokes Premiership clash with Motherwell.<br />

And they have another option to complete their summer transfer business in Senderos. The 31-year-old former Arsenal defender is a free agent and has been training with the club this week.<br />

"I can't speak highly enough of Philippe Senderos," Warburton said. "He hadn't been training with a team for a few weeks but his level of fitness is outstanding. His CV is well documented but his level of fitness and the way he has fitted into the group has been first class. He has dealt with training all week effortlessly.<br />
<br />
"We have to look at a number of options and I've been very, very impressed by Philippe. Obviously he won't be involved at the weekend. He is going back to Geneva for a couple of days, but we are very pleased with what we have seen.<br />
<br />
"But, again, we have to make sure we look at all our options and treat people the right way as well. Players want honest feedback and we will always do that to the players. That leaves us in good stead if we do it that way."<br />

Meanwhile, Warburton has dismissed Motherwell boss Mark McGhee's assertion that his team should be closer to Rangers than Celtic because of the gap in levels of spending between the Glasgow clubs.<br />

"It's a game of opinions," Warburton said. "That's the beauty of the game, that's why we love it so much. That's Mark's opinion, mine may differ slightly, but we will see after Saturday."<br />

McGhee had said he believes his side have a better chance of getting something at Ibrox than they did at Celtic Park last week.<br />
