UAE earned a priceless 2-1 away win over Japan in their opening match in the third round of World Cup Qualifier. They were 1-0 down by a Keisuke Honda goal just after 11 minutes, but the in-form Ahmed Khalil struck on either halves to complete a brilliant comeback. This could be a decisive three points for them as Australia and Japan are favorites to top the group.
Australia had no trouble in their opening group match against Iraq. After a quite first half, Massimo Luongo and Tomi Juric scored in quick succession to guarantee three points for the Socceroos. This was also the sixth time in eight home matches that they kept a clean sheet.
